Another popular residential fence style is the privacy fence, also called the shadowbox or board on board. For this style fence, there are no spaces in between boards and the average height is six feet.

You can make any style fence more unique with fence post caps. There are many different styles of fence post caps from which you can choose. Examples include gothic, ball and New England. Perhaps the most unique style of cap is the solar cap. These caps use the energy of the sun to create light. This makes them ideal for driveways and swimming pool areas. If you want something more involved than fancy post caps, you may want to hire a contractor who is experienced in creating unique fences. Building a fence that is delightfully different is not just a practical construction job but a creative work of art.

When hiring a contractor for the purposes of building unique wooden fences, make sure the company you choose is licensed and bonded. You'll want to see pictures of work they've done before so you can get an idea as to whether or not they can fulfill your needs. You should also ask for references and a detailed estimate. You may even want to check with a couple different contractors before hiring one. Many contracting companies will give you a free estimate, which makes it easy to compare the rates and services of different ones before making your choice.
